Project Background
Shipyard sites feature high humidity, salt spray, frequent heavy lifting and irregular oversized marine equipment. Standard dry containers cannot support top crane loading, nor withstand long-term harsh coastal working conditions.
The customer required open-top containers with reinforced load-bearing capacity, marine anti-corrosion coating, customized lifting lugs and a tarpaulin system. The containers are used to store over-height marine spare parts, structural components and heavy mechanical goods, and they allow repeated loading and unloading by gantry cranes.
Project Challenges
Standard dry containers cannot support top crane loading, so oversized components cannot be lowered in from above.
Long-term exposure to humidity and salt spray calls for a marine anti-corrosion coating and a reinforced structure, which standard container specifications do not cover.
The containers carry heavy, irregular components and are lifted repeatedly, so the load-bearing structure and lifting points must be designed around the actual lifting method.
The design also has to match the shipyard site itself, including cargo dimensions, yard stacking requirement and local environmental conditions.

Customized Container Solution
Our marine engineering team communicated closely with the customer's shipyard engineering department. We reviewed cargo dimensions, maximum load, lifting method, yard stacking requirement and local environmental conditions, revised the construction drawings several times and confirmed all technical parameters before production started.
Manufacturing and Quality Control
Thickened steel plates, reinforced corner posts and customized lifting points were used in production, and welding quality was monitored throughout the manufacturing process. The open-top design comes with heavy-duty waterproof tarpaulin and fastening belts, which are easy to open and fix for frequent top loading.
Factory Testing and Documents
Before shipment, the containers went through a dimensional check, welding inspection, load simulation test, salt spray resistance check and water tightness test. All test records and inspection documents were sorted and provided to the customer.
Logistics and Transit Protection
Suitable transport vehicles were arranged according to the container dimensions. The containers were fixed securely during transit to avoid deformation or coating damage, and the logistics status was tracked in real time with progress updated to the customer.
On-site Acceptance and Handover
On arrival, our service staff coordinated with the shipyard receiving team. We guided the on-site visual inspection, demonstrated tarpaulin operation, checked the accessories, signed the acceptance documents and sorted all certification paperwork.
Post-delivery Support
We keep continuous communication after handover and provide technical consultation for daily use, maintenance guidance and spare parts support for container accessories.
Project Outcome
The custom open-top containers were delivered on schedule to the shipyard site and passed customer acceptance.
The delivery solved the difficulty of top hoisting and storage for oversized and heavy marine components.
The reinforced structure and marine anti-corrosion coating suit long-term use in the salty, humid shipyard environment.
The full-cycle project ran smoothly, and the customer confirmed willingness for long-term cooperation on marine supplies.
Core Advantages
|
Marine-oriented custom design |
Container structure, load capacity, coating and accessories are tailored to shipyard, offshore and marine project situations rather than standard container specifications. |
|
Full-process quality control |
From raw material incoming inspection and mid-production supervision to multi-item factory acceptance testing, with complete inspection records handed to the customer. |
|
One-stop delivery service |
Technical consultation, drawing design, production, testing, logistics, on-site acceptance and after-sales support, handled through one point of contact for the whole project. |
|
Schedule follow-up |
A production schedule is set up at the start of the project and updated regularly, to keep delivery in line with the shipyard construction plan. |
|
Document support |
Inspection certificates, material certificates and test reports are provided for shipyard audit and on-site filing. |
